The attack on Iran and the resulting devastation have not only affected the concerned region but have also created panic across the entire world, said Shafiqur Rahman, Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Leader of the Opposition in the 13th National Parliament.

He has called for an immediate cessation of war and urged all parties to resolve the crisis through peaceful means. He made this appeal in a post from his verified Facebook account on Friday (March 27).

In the post, he wrote: “The recent attacks and counterattacks in Iran have created a devastating situation in the region, which has already resulted in a large number of casualties and significant destruction. The horrors of this war have not only affected the concerned region but have also caused panic worldwide. In fact, this war situation has put the global economy and energy supply at serious risk. Bangladesh is not outside its impact.”

He further stated: “A severe crisis has already emerged in public life centering on energy shortages. After a long holiday during Eid and Ramadan, offices, courts, factories, and all activities will fully resume from March 29. In that case, the crisis is likely to worsen significantly. People are having to stand in line for hours to collect fuel, facing extreme inconvenience.”

He added: “The energy crisis will not be limited to transportation and electricity supply only. It will affect factories, agriculture, and all productive sectors. Even internet services may be at risk if electricity supply is disrupted.”

He concluded: “In this situation, we call upon all parties involved in the conflict to immediately stop the war and find peaceful solutions to any disputes. Remember, this wildfire of war is causing suffering and pain to billions of people around the world. Please do not cause further hardship to humanity.”
