At least eight soldiers were killed in a suicide bombing in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The banned militant group Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the attack.

According to a report published by Mehr News Agency on Thursday (May 15), the attack targeted a gathering of military personnel in the Bajaur district of the province. Bajaur, a tribal region bordering Afghanistan, has long been known for militant activities.

The report states that the suicide bomber detonated explosives among the soldiers, killing at least eight people on the spot. Following the attack, TTP released a statement claiming responsibility.

However, the Pakistani government has not immediately announced whether any security operation has been launched in the area after the incident.
